About me

In 1985 I saw a ZX Spectrum.

The Personal Computer has always been for me a cabinet of infinite curiosities. In 1985 I saw a ZX Spectrum. It was an 8-bit personal home computer that in the mind of a seven year old -as I was at the time- suggested a whole series of rather complicated but exciting meanings. The enigmatic nature of the RAM chips and their ability to store information suggested a scientific index with the fierce insistence to find a meaning in my head. I was dominated by the concept of programming – expressions of natural language in which the merest detail had enormous power. I observed grammatical and lexical units transforming in direct, powerful and moving visual representations of real life objects I could recognize and respond to with the push of a button in a rubber keyboard. I realized anything was possible: Computers could encompass and reveal the world we see. I was looking upon a cultural and scientific revolution with 16 colors on a conventional TV set screen.

Since then, computers became part of my everyday life. I accepted Turbo Pascal and C++ languages as my intellectual inheritance derived by Bjarne Stroustrup and Dennis Ritchie, establishers of the major language paradigms. It seems almost natural, that I am now a multimedia developer, applying my “inherited” structures of code and visual representations to LCD screens with 16,7 million colors. During my ten years experience as an industry professional, I embraced web design as an immensely exciting and vibrant activity. I designed web sites and corporate presentations for clients such as the HELLENIC FOLKLORE RESEARCH CENTRE, the PEDAGOGICAL INSTITUTE and the CONSTANTINOS KARAMANLIS INSTITUTE FOR DEMOCRACY. Serving DIGITAL CONTENT’s department of Web Development and On-line Services since 1999, I’ve also delivered various TV Spots, electronic press kits and video news releases. My duties during the 8 1/2 years of working for the company, included web design and authoring, video and audio editing and Flash/3D animation. In 2007, I took over the position of the Digital Media Coordinator / Assistant Department Head of DIGITAL CONTENT. As such, I had the capacity to face the upcoming challenges in the general management and operation of the department.

I founded my own web design agency in 2008 driven by the need to escape from the traditional working production practices of a large company, in order to explore the future and redefine the old techniques. Traditional methods had undergone rapid revolutions and as a professional I am expected to be continually developing my skills, thus remain unaffected of the repetitive flow production standards aiming to gradually suppress the creative aspect of my profession. Being my own boss helped me grasp a working knowledge of budgets and development, realization and production processes.

I am a regular member of GRAPHIC DESIGNERS ASSOCIATION and the author of various design, programming and consumer technology featured articles in PC MASTER, DIGITAL CONTENT, E-MARKET and COMPUTER FOR ALL leading computer magazines.

The Internet has transcended my role as a multimedia developer and I feel I now have to answer to a new set of needs, with a new kind of significance. As the programming language revolution continues, I find myself seeking to demystify new mechanisms for distribution and mobility. I’m interested in embedded systems and particularly mobile programming and wish to develop the skills necessary to progress my career in this sector.
